CASE STUDY
Recently, we have been working for Horsham District Council in Southwater Country Park. The job is split into three phases totalling three weeks works. We will be carrying out a combination of chipping the waste on site and making neat stacks with brush and logs. However, some of this depended on whether the access allows us to gain entrance with our chipper.
On arrival we laid out our Tree Cutting Sign, this serves as a clear visual warning, alerting people passing by to potential dangers. We set up our chippers and began cutting away. We were requested to clear fell from 5-8m from the waters edge. This was done to allow the water from the lake to be re-oxygenated and improve the health condition of all the wildlife in and round the lake.
Trees are removed to prevent them causing damage to the pond and its ecosystem. Overhanging branches and fallen leaves can create a significant amount of debris in the water, which can lead to water quality issues and potentially harm aquatic life. Additionally, the roots of trees can grow deep into the ground and disturb the balance of the pond by taking up excess nutrients and water.
Our tree surgeons chipped all branches on site where access allowed us. We created habitat hedges around the lake from the trees that were felled. The posts securing these hedges are made from the trees that we have felled. Over the next four days we will be uploading new case studies as we continue each phase of this job.
The park management are very pleased with the work that has been completed and are excited for phase two of tree surgery to begin.
