Emergency Call Out: Fallen Sycamore in Hampton Court

Project Overview

Location
Hampton Court, Surrey
Project Type
Emergency removal of a fallen sycamore tree
Objective
Respond urgently to a fallen tree blocking the road and clear the area safely for residents and traffic.

Tree Marshalls received an emergency call out to Hampton Court following reports of a fallen sycamore tree outside the entrance to a block of flats. With the tree blocking the road, our team responded quickly to assess the situation and begin clearing the area.

The priority was to remove the tree safely and reopen the road as soon as possible, minimising disruption to residents and passing traffic.

Project Scope

Once on site, our team worked quickly to assess and clear the fallen tree. Key work carried out during the call out included:

Assessing the fallen sycamore to plan the safest and quickest method of removal from the road.
Removing the tree from the road, clearing the main obstruction to restore access for residents and traffic.
Clearing all debris from the site, leaving the area outside the flats clean and safe.

This rapid response allowed the road to be reopened with minimal disruption to residents.

Challenges

This emergency call out presented challenges typical of urgent, unplanned works.

Fallen tree blocking the road: The sycamore had come down across the road, creating an immediate obstruction that needed clearing quickly.

Location outside a residential entrance: Working directly outside the entrance to flats meant extra care was needed to keep residents safe throughout.

Emergency response timescale: The nature of the call out meant the team had to mobilise and assess the situation quickly, with little advance planning time.

Outcome

The fallen sycamore was successfully removed from the road, with all debris cleared from the site. This allowed the road to be reopened quickly, minimising disruption to residents and traffic in the area.

The tree was removed safely from outside the flats’ entrance, resolving the immediate hazard it posed. All debris was cleared from the site, leaving the area clean and safe for residents.
